Park and freestyle snowboarding

the roots of snowboarding

Snowboarding has started as an anti-establishment movement against skiers. Snowboarders used to be banned and were not allowed in the skiing areas. You had to be creative without lifts if you wanted to snowboard, a lot of influence came from skateboarding. Jibbing benches, rails, building jumps and looking for obstacles that had to be approached in a way like skateboarders did.

Nowadays slopestyle and halfpipe snowboarding are the most viewed sports at the Olympics. Athletes became professional, and the teaching methods and funparks of freestyle snowboarding have evolved incredibly.

We safely teach how to jib on the pistes, jump (cliffs), tweak grabs, spin in all four directions and make grinds on rails and benches. When the powder is right, we build backcountry kickers with soft landings to learn new tricks. The funpark of St. Anton is small, but very well maintained with an easy & medium and pro area. The funpark is the perfect stomping ground for every snowboarder that wants to learn tricks.

Spin to win

There are many ways to spin. You can spin on the snow with a flat base, or spin with your nose and tail and off course you can spin in the air. Spinning is nothing different than making rotations. You can learn to spin with some proper methods, and we prefer to rotate in all four directions, so you become a more versatile rider. Each spin has 360 degrees; the pro snowboarders nowadays spin up to 1620’s.

Expression session - get the basics

Maybe you are new to freestyle and want to discover your type of riding? Learning freestyle tricks can be very helpful for your snowboarding balance in general. You will become an all-around rider if you at least know some ground level tricks. For example an olly, that is a trick that you can use in every facet of snowboarding.

A training of three hours can re-introduce you into the roots of snowboarding. You can have fun on the littlest obstacles with the worst snow ever. We will safely trigger you to come out of your comfort zone and explore the possibilities of real snowboarding.
